Databases
The databases listed below provide significant coverage for public health topics. Begin the search in one of the priority databases (PubMed,
href="http://libcat1.cc.emory.edu:32888/DB=embase">EMBASE, and Web of Science) and then continue in other databases as necessary to achieve good results.
- BIOSIS Previews
Comprehensive reference database for life science research, covering original research reports and reviews in biological and biomedical areas; includes conference proceedings, meeting abstracts, technical reports, and patents.
- EMBASE
A major biomedical and pharmaceutical database that also covers topics on health policy and environmental health. Coverage: 1980-present.
- ERIC
A national educational database sponsored by the U.S. Department of education that indexes articles, documents and books. Coverage: 1966-present.
- Global Health
International coverage of communicable diseases (including HIV/AIDS), tropical and parasitic diseases, human nutrition, community and public health.
- LexisNexis Statistical
Statistics from federal and state government sources, private organizations and international intergovernmental agencies and organizations.
- PsycINFO
Citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, dissertations, and technical reports from professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines. Coverage: 1887-present./li
- PubMed
National Library of Medicine's premier database covering literature of biomedicine, related life and behavioral sciences, health care services and research. Coverage: 1966-present.
- Web of Science
A collection of scientific and social science databases that includes keyword searching as well as cited reference searching. Coverage: 1900-present.
Journals
Journals are the major sources for finding published research results and studies, with articles written by experts and scholars. The Library maintains subscriptions to an extensive collection of journals, and articles from journals not available at Emory may be obtained by interlibrary loan (for Emory faculty and students). The following list indicates a few important titles; many others are available in print and electronically.
