Course Reserves at WHSCL Printable Version

Course Reserves is a library service that allows instructors to make course materials available to students in the Health Sciences Center Library and/or online with the web application ReservesDirect. We do so by digitizing print materials (pdfs, web links, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, or Excel documents) and placing these materials online in the instructor’s individual course reserves.

We also support the faculty by placing books (physical items) at the Information Desk in the Health Sciences Center Library.

To Place a book or other print item on reserve:

  • Please fill out this reserve form for items owned by the Library; the form will be transmitted electronically. OR download this form
  • If the item is your personal copy, please bring it to the Information Desk in the Health Sciences Center Library with a copy of the form.
  • For more information, please see these additional guidelines.

To Place an article, book chapter, or other publication on electronic reserve:

  • Log into ReservesDirect with your Emory NetID
  • View the online tutorial (http://web.library.emory.edu/services/circulation/reserves/tutorials.html)
  • For additional assistance, phone the Information Desk at 7-8727 or email MedRef (MEDREF@LISTSERV.CC.EMORY.EDU)

Copyright and Fair Use Considerations

  • All materials placed on course reserve are solely for the non-commercial, educational use of Emory University faculty, staff and students.
  • If the faculty already owns the copyright on the material to be placed on reserve (i.e. lecture notes), or if the material is in the public domain and not protected by copyright law, the material may be placed on reserve without restriction.
  • Copyrighted material used more than one semester requires written copyright permission.
  • Library staff reserve the right to refuse to place materials on course reserve if in their judgment, the material is beyond the bounds of fair use.

For questions or assistance, phone the Information Desk at 7-8727 or email MedRef (MEDREF@LISTSERV.CC.EMORY.EDU)
