Borrowing/Circulation Printable Version

Borrowing privileges are extended to eligible library users at the Information Desk upon presentation of a valid picture ID. Borrowers assume all responsibility for the safe return of the materials checked out to them. Reference books, periodicals, and most CDs or DVDs from Media do not circulate.

Can I renew a book?
Yes. If there is no hold on your book, Emory borrowers and staff of affiliated institutions can renew books for two 28-day periods. You may renew your books in person at the Information Desk or by phone at 404-727-8727. Click here to renew books in EUCLID. Please check to see that your books renewed properly by looking at User Status Inquiry, also under User Services.

How do I access my library record?
Go to EUCLID, the library's online catalog, and select My Account on the tool bar. You will be asked to identify yourself by your Emory network ID and password.

How do I request a book that is checked out to another borrower?
Emory borrowers and staff of affiliated institutions can place holds on checked out books by either calling (404-727-8727) or visiting the Information Desk. Borrowers will be notified as soon as the book is returned, and it will be held for them at the Information Desk.

Do fines accrue on overdue books?
Fines accumulate at 50 cents per day per overdue book. You can pay fines by cash or check at the Information Desk, or by mail (checks payable to Emory University). It is the responsibility of the borrower to return all library materials on time and in good condition. For items not returned you will be billed the replacement cost of the book and a processing fee.

How do I become a member of the library?
Membership is available to health professionals in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. The annual membership fee is $150.00 for health professionals and $500.00 for individuals representing for-profit organizations. For more information about library membership, please call the Information Desk at 404-727-8727.

    • 14-day loan for books (limit 5)
    • 7-day loan for media material

    • Customized database searches -$10.00 minimum charge
    • Library Orientation tours (by appointment)
    Photocopy Services
    • Self-service copies at 15 cents per page with a copy card
    • Coin-op copies at 25 cents per page
    • Full-service photocopy (staff pull and copy at $8.00 per request)
    Electronic Resources
    From the library workstations access electronic textbooks, article databases like Medline and CINAHL, and full-text journals. Due to contractual licensing agreements, we cannot extend remote access privileges to library members.
